Keshav
Durham UniversityBSc Geology (F600)Hello! My name is Keshav, and I'm a first year, studying Bsc Climate Science. I was originally born in Germany, but have been living in England for over 8 years. I'm excited to share my story with you and help you get a better sense of what it's like to be a student at Durham University. I'm currently studying Climate Science, because of the interconnection they have between Geology and Geography. I found it difficult to decide which one I preferred, and felt that this course had the best of both world's. Taking modules in both subjects always keep it fresh and interesting. So far, my favourite subjects have been understanding some of the difficulties we have in dealing with climate change, and the current importance of mitigation and adaption. One of my favourite experiences has been to engage with world leading professors, who are currently dealing with several issues on climate. Group work sessions are also great, as you get to make friends with people across the world, learning about different cultures and traditions along the way. In my free time, I enjoy travelling, playing music, and watching sports. If you have made it this far, I can tell that you are interested! I hope this gives you a better sense of what it's like to be a student at Durham University. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me, and I will be happy to help. -

More specifically, I study Spanish (post A-level) and Italian (beginners) at Durham and I am loving learning both languages in such a beautiful city. Counties of the North East
Durham
County town Durham is one of the UK’s most picturesque cities. Its two staples – the cathedral and castle – were among the world’s first UNESCO World Heritage sites. The cathedral might look familiar, having stood in for Hogwarts in the Harry Potter films.
The High Force waterfall in the Durham Dales is well worth a visit.
Northumberland
Northumberland has lots to explore, from castles and historical market towns.
Its coastline and the jaw dropping North Pennines are both designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. If you love animals, take a boat ride past to spot puffins on Coquet Island, off the coast of Amble.
Tyne & Wear
You'll find lively communities, football fans, nightlife, and art venues – including The Glasshouse and the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art.
You'll also have peaceful beaches and seaside towns nearby, like Tynemouth and South Shields.
