This statistical release reports interim applicant totals in the 2016 UCAS application cycle as at Monday 16 November 2015.

It covers applicants who have applied for any course, including courses with an October deadline (statistics for those applying to October deadline courses can be viewed here).

Statistics are also provided for applicant totals as at the third Monday in November in previous cycles. This is an interim point in the application cycle and, unlike statistics for application deadlines, no direct comparison between cycles is possible.

In recent cycles, applicant totals have increased by around 300 per cent between the November interim comparison point and the January deadline.

The proportional cycle to cycle change in applicants recorded at the January deadline is often different to that recorded at this interim point.

Figures published after the 15 January UCAS application deadline will provide the first reliable indication of general demand for higher education this cycle.
