Hi,
I am a second year student who have experienced taking a gap year after completing A-levels in sixth form.
I then took a local college course as I wanted to go into a degree programme where my A-levels wouldn't apply (STEM A-levels wouldn't do for an English and Journalism degree ) and decided the college course would work out cheaper than a foundation course at uni. So that took 2 years. If you are a mature student and worried about adjusting, I can reassure you that the first year is all about making sure everyone is on the same page.
I am also here if you have any issues with roommates as I had to relocate so understand how it can affect your well-being. I can also relate if you come from a bigger city and find it an adjustment to get used to being a student in a smaller space that lacks the usual diversity from big places.
Otherwise, I like reading, running, and sewing but feel free to reach out for a chat about nothing and everything under the sun :)

MA Visual Communication
Hello I'm Alicia-Marie! I am currently studying an MA in Visual Communications to broaden my employment opportunities, to develop a wider skillset, and familiarise myself with the facilities available. Prior to my Masters, I graduated with a BA in Photography in June 2022. My plan once I have graduated is to start my own small business alongside a 9-5 job in the print/digital media industry.
I am currently a student ambassador for the university, course representative for my studies, artist photographer and I work part-time in retail on my days off.
I have a rather busy social life and go to a social once a week with the Spirit of Solent society! They are an amazing society and everyone is extremely friendly. I spend the rest of my time playing pool or watching the footie with the boys.
please feel free to ask any questions about accommodation as I have visited most of them and lived in David Moxon for my first year. I have good knowledge of the city and things to do aswell.
Outside of university, I train at the gym four days a week alongside reading a lot of nutrition and healthy eating books so I can be healthier for longer. I also read a lot of general knowledge books outside of my studies on subjects such as finance and psychology as I believe they will aid me with people skills and general life skills.

Amelia

Biology - BSc (Hons)
Hi! I’m Amelia, and I’m studying biology at UOL! I am the course rep for my year and also a student ambassador, and my interests in biology are towards the structural aspects. I enjoy learning about human biology and how the human systems work, and the similarities between us and animals. I hope to study more about the history of biology, such as fossils and bones in the future, as well as ‘ancientbiotics’ - how humans treated diseases without the knowledge we have now. In my free time I like to help out and volunteer with projects relating to my interests in biology and also tabletop games!
