Biography

Joel is Business Manager Apprentice at Microsoft, in his third year of a Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship. At Microsoft Joel's work covers new starter onboarding, employee wellbeing, diversity and inclusion, and internal communications, he also sits on the board of Microsoft UK's LGBTQI+ employee resource group.

Outside of his role, Joel is the Chair of the Association of Apprentices' Apprentice Council, an organisation aiming to create an online hub for apprentices across the UK, and has ambitions to create a nationwide community of apprentices and alumni. He is also a member of the Institute for Apprenticeships' Apprentice Panel, where he advises governing bodies and employers on a wide range of matters regarding apprenticeships.

Prior to his apprenticeship, Joel spent a year studying Psychology at the University of Reading, before ultimately deciding that a more work-centric path was best for him. Having experienced both the traditional and non-traditional routes to a degree, Joel advocates passionately for young people to find the route into a career that best suits them.
