Having worked for the NHS and a local authority in junior administrative positions, I joined the HE sector in 2007 looking for better career development paths. After specialising in Quality Assurance for a few years, I became a School Administrative Manager, which gave me an excellent grounding in almost all aspects of university work, as well as solid management experience. During this period, I also joined the Association of University Administrators, and started to build my external networks and get more involved in staff development activities. I became Head of Admissions at the University of Brighton last spring.
