Summary

In 2020, UK universities had no choice but to rethink how they engaged with students and staff at international schools when the COVID-19 pandemic put a stop to all international travel. This interactive panel session will explore what has worked and how we can improve the effectiveness of virtual sessions going forward. We are all suffering from zoom fatigue so we want to explore how universities and counsellors can work together to try and ensure virtual sessions are engaging and useful for students. The panel will share their experiences from the last 12 months and ask the audience to do the same. While we hope that a sense of normal will return soon, it is likely that some form of virtual information sessions will now be an integrated part of how we work together going forward and hope this session will help university and school staff alike to plan for the future.

Learning outcomes:

  • Share examples of best practice in hosting virtual visits – individual HEI visits, subject specific sessions, collaborative sessions
  • Identify any lessons learnt from online information/sessions and how to improve the student experience of these going forward
