Summary

What are the Creative Industries, what jobs sit within them and what skills do young people need to have a successful creative career? The session will explore how the creative industries are changing and what jobs might be available to young people by the time they graduate. It will give you an understanding of the breadth of the creative industries and how young people can be supported to develop their creative employability from a young age. We will look at some key facts and separate the myth from the reality which will support you to advise young people and their families. We will also look at some of the innovative ways that Falmouth University students are creating their own employability runway into great jobs at the end of their studies. In groups, you will have the opportunity to think about how you can support your learners to develop creative skill set to enhance their employability. 

Learning outcomes:

  • Broaden understanding of the creative industries and jobs that sit within them - Understanding of the skills that the creative industries will require from graduates and the future workforce
  • To consider how young people can develop their creative employability in your place of learning
