Charlotte Smith

Cyber Skills Growth Lead and Coordinator, CYNAM

Biography

My career background over the last 30 years has always involved working with amazing people and exploring opportunities within education and business
Whether its been in Recruitment Business Consultancy HR or Business Engagement the key is building successful relationships, having integrity and being authentic
Connecting, networking, removing silos is w. hat I do best and whether its Cyber or Engineering Retail or Education this is true for all sectors
My role at Skills Growth Lead and Enterprise Coordinator is unique, serving the Careers Enterprise Company and Careers Hubs of the South West, the Gfirst Local Education Partnership and CyNam
Partnering with the National Cyber Security Centre, Cynam leads a partnership delivering the ’CyberFirst Schools Programme’ whose aims and objectives are to
widen understanding of the Cyber Security sector to schools and colleges, parents and teachers.
Improve both numbers and gender diversity within Computer Science and to support schools with business engagement activities to promote uptake in Computer Science and demystify the sector
This dovetails nicely with the requirements of the CEC’s Gatsby Benchmarks and new Provider Access Legislation.
I currently work with over 80 schools in the wider south west region, with 59 being in Gloucestershire, where we are leading the way in connecting Cyber businesses with schools and colleges and hopefully bucking the trend of closing the gender diversity gap and increasing numbers in Computer Science.
Our template is now being replicated throughout the UK and will also be adapted for other sectors also due its success
