Universities and colleges in the UK are diverse and inclusive environments and welcome disabled students.

There is a range of support available to help you with your studies and lifestyle at university – you just need to let the university know so they can help put this in place. The easiest way to do this is to use the ‘More about you’ section of the UCAS application.

Funding

It's important to be aware that international students are not usually eligible for the Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA), so you may not be able to get the same level of support as a UK student – and you may need to fund certain adjustments yourself.

However, universities and colleges will do their best to support your individual needs and will be happy to discuss this with you.

Supporting evidence

In some cases, you may be asked to provide supporting evidence, such as a letter from your doctor (translated into English). We strongly recommend contacting the disability adviser at the university as early as possible to discuss how they will be able to support you. You can find their details on the student support services section of the university website.
