I would like to go into the Technology sector when I graduate, however I am unsure of the specifics but I know that by completing my course doing internships and networking I will filter through what I like and dislike

Joe
University of Hertfordshire
Engineering
Hi, my name is Joe and I’m currently in the final year of my degree in BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering. After having found out that I’ve passed all of my Semester A modules for this year, I know that I’ve only got my Semester B modules and my project left and all things going well (fingers crossed 🤞), I’ll be graduating soon.
I am a commuting student who lives approximately 15 miles away from the university, however this is easily accessible by the university’s Uno bus service, which involves a 13 minute walk on the flat, mostly walking in a straight line so accessing the gift and privilege of a solid university education couldn’t be any easier for me!
My week in my final semester (hopefully) in terms of lectures, labs and tutorials is reasonably light as I only have sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, equating to 12 hours a week of contact time. One of the most interesting modules I’ve been looking forward to since the start of my degree is “Telecommunications Systems” as this talks about digital modulation techniques, some of which are used in everyday technology such as Wi-Fi and mobile communications. I also like this module as it’s very easy for me to see clear applications to real life, this comes with the additional benefit of this module being simple to explain to others who do not have the same educational subject background as me.
Outside of lesson time, I attend some society events as well as attending Student Council Meetings, whether it me online or in-person. In the previous meeting, I’ve had my proposed motion get accepted without any rejections, which felt like a major win for not just myself but the rest of the students at the university and I’m pleased that it’s already been put in place.
Overall, to say my degree is easy would be an act of deliberate deception, it is challenging but not hard, as I don’t like to use that word as it implies that it is unachievable, which it is not providing that you put your mind to it and find the correct life/study balance, which only you know is right for you.
