Student life

At Blackpool and The Fylde College, we are very proactive in ensuring that our students have the support they need to complete their studies successfully. Whether that's help with finance, wellbeing advice or study support, we're here to make sure nothing stands in the way of achieving your ambitions and making the most of your time at college. With a large cohort of students who are returning to education after time in the workplace, we are particularly attuned to the kind of support students need to help them juggle ongoing work commitments and navigate the stresses and strains of family life whilst maintaining a programme of study.

As well as all the practical support you need to complete your studies, we'll also give you all the tools to build your confidence. Not only will this have a positive impact on your studies helping you to smash presentations and fly though exams, but also give you the skills to meet life's challenges head on and help you live the life you want to lead.

What's it like to live in North West?
Check out our region guide

The North West is made up of Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, and Merseyside. Its two biggest cities, Liverpool and Manchester, are global landmarks in music and football history.

The region was the heart of the industrial revolution – at one time, Lancashire produced half the world’s cotton. Many architectural reminders of this era remain, like Liverpool’s Royal Albert Docks and Chester's Victorian centre.

The stunning Lake District – home to England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike – needs no filters, while Blackpool is a seaside adventure.

Campus and facilities

Whilst we might not be the largest campus, we really do punch above our weight when it comes to facilities, equipment and our industry-expert tutors. With a background in technical education, we have invested heavily in our engineering, science, automotive and computing provision so that students study in environments that closely mimic the workplaces they are likely to encounter in employment. That said, it doesn't mean we've scrimped on other facilities. We have a dedicated area for our health and social care provision, an onsite training nursery, catering kitchens and a restaurant that is staffed by students and open to the public. There's a working theatre and art gallery too and we have outstanding photographic, print and art facilities to rival any art school.

Studying here gives you all the benefits of a much larger institution with all the advantages of smaller class sizes and a friendly atmosphere that makes it so much easier to settle in.
