Student life

Your student experience is what you make of it. We’ll support you in the transition from school or college to university study before you start your degree. Once here, you’ll have everything you need on campus and the city at your fingertips.

There will never be a dull moment. Brighton Students’ Union has more than 100 societies and an exciting sporting community. You’ll be able to connect with like-minded students and develop a healthy study-work-life balance. You’ll also have the chance to get involved in events like Freshtival, club nights and student-led events.

If you want to work while you study, there are opportunities to apply for paid roles on campus. Our careers and employability team are also available to provide advice on finding a job in the city, and answer career-related questions.

You can also tailor your degree with a study abroad placement, a fun opportunity for you to broaden your horizons and gain valuable skills and experience that will enhance your employability.

South East England is made up of nine counties, with popular student cities in Brighton & Hove, Oxford, Portsmouth, Reading, and Southampton.

The area sees plenty of sunshine and Brighton – the LGBTQ+ capital of the UK – is a student favourite, with tons of quirky shops, cafes, arts, nightlife and watersports.

Moving east into Kent, you'll find the charming towns of Whitstable, Broadstairs, and Margate – all bursting with literary history – plus the iconic landmarks of Dover’s white cliffs and Canterbury Cathedral.

London is an hour or two away for gigs, theatre trips and capital city adventures, while the country’s two largest airports – Heathrow and Gatwick – mean international journeys are easy to get started.

Campus and facilities

We have three campuses across the city, but whichever one you study at, you’ll be within easy reach of the beach and the city, and libraries at your fingertips.

Moulsecoomb campus has been redeveloped and it is now home to a new gym with the latest equipment, cardio and weights suite and a studio with a programme of classes. It’s also home to the new Students’ Union, new halls of residence and improved infrastructure.

Falmer has newly renovated gym and indoor sports facilities, including badminton, netball and basketball courts, alongside an indoor swimming pool. Falmer also has a range of outdoor facilities including grass pitches, a floodlit 3G pitch and hardcourts. Plus, it’s next to the AMEX stadium where Brighton & Hove Albion FC play their matches.

City campus is home to our art, design and media courses and in the heart of Brighton - a short stroll from the famous Brighton beach and pier. You’ll have access to specialist facilities, galleries, studios and more.
