Claire is a former secondary school teacher who has 10 years of experience of working in higher education, at universities in the South-East, London and the West Midlands. As someone who was the first person in her family to attend university, Claire is committed to widening participation and ensuring students from all backgrounds are able to benefit from the transformative power of higher education. In her current role as Deputy Head of Outreach at the University of Birmingham, Claire leads the University’s outreach and access programmes for post-16 students as well as supporting colleagues in working with younger students.
